SynopsisThis book attempts to advocate for health empowerment of women through selfcare by adopting patient
centered care in OPD Settings. This is sought to be promoted as a desirable strategy in 21st century
hospitals. The USP of the book is that it is an entirely indigenous product, i.e., based on the research
project work of the students and faculty of PGIMER, Chandigarh. The book indicates that it is feasible to
impart health promotion orientation in Gynecology, Orthopedics and Surgery OPDs through counselling of
women without resorting to any medication. In the era of evidence based medicine this book showcases
the efficacy of a variety of interventions related to various women health issues including menstruation,
polycystic ovary syndrome; infertility, minor disorders in pregnancy, congenital malformations/genetic
disorders, urine leakage, pelvic organ prolapse, dysmenorrhea, menopause, low back pain, knee
osteoarthritis, therapy related complications in breast or cervix cancer patients.
All the projects highlighted in the book have a definite replication value in medical/nursing colleges of
India and elsewhere. The book will surely empower women to have a healthy and productive life.
