About the author Raghbendra Jha is Professor of Economics and Executive Director, Australia South Asia Research Centre, at the Australian National University. His previous appointments include Columbia University (where he obtained his PhD) and Williams College in the US, Queen's University in Canada, University of Warwick in the UK and Delhi School of Economics, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research in India. He has published dozens of books/monographs and more than 150 papers in leading journals and other refereed outlets.
