The present work seeks to avoid all controversial discussion or polemical arguments. Its aim is to narrate as fully, clearly, and simply as possible all the various facts, opinions, measures which any person, interested in the cause of English education in India, would like to know in order to form his own opinion or adopt measures for promoting that education in the future. The subject of primary and secondary English education has been only indirectly touched upon in this work. High English education is the main theme of this work.
