Krishna Bose has been a member of Parliament in the Eleventh, Twelfth and Thirteenth Lok Sabhas. In the 1996 general elections she was elected as the Indian National Congress's candidate; in the 1998 and 1999 general elections she represented the Trinamool Cngress and became a prominent party leader. Professor Bose was educated at Kolkata University. She taught for many years at City College, Kolkata, where she was head of the department of English and later the principal. Her husband, Dr Sisir Kumar Bose, was a freedom fighter as well as an eminent pediatrician and the director of the Netaji Research Bureau in Kolkata. She has two sons and a daughter.
