About the author
Sankar (Mani Sankar Mukherji) is the author of several Bengali bestsellers, both fiction and non-fiction. Two of his novels, Seemabaddha (Company Limited) and Jana Aranya (The Middleman), were turned into films by Satyajit Ray. His novel Chowringhee has been translated into several languages; the English translation won the Vodafone Crossword Book Award for 2007 and was shortlisted for the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize in 2010. Sankar lives in Kolkata.
